We're running the Cheshire Half Marathon on the 14th September for the Ichthyosis Support Group.

Ichthyosis, pronounced Ick-thee-o-sis (which comes from the Greek word meaning ‘fish’) describes a group of conditions in which the skin is dry and scaly. With ichthyosis the scaling is continuous and usually affects the whole body. Most types are congenital, meaning that they are present at birth, and inherited, meaning that they result from genetic changes, so they may run in families.

Ichthyosis affects not just the skin but also mental health and quality of life, making emotional support as important as physical treatment.

Ichthyosis can be a very isolating condition to live with due to little awareness of this lifelong chronic genetic skin condition. The Ichthyosis Support Group provides reliable information, member events, advocacy, funding for research and a community for people living with the condition. You can listen to how ichthyosis impacts lives via these podcasts recorded in collaboration between the Ichthyosis Support Group and the British Dermatological Nursing Group. You can also watch some short stories of families talking about life with ichthyosis on You Tube

Thank you for helping us to raise funds and hope for many.
